Who we are

The Financial Sector is one of the 15 professional unions of the OGBL. It is a major player in the fight for better salaries and working conditions, protection against unfair dismissal, the preservation of social benefits, shorter working hours, vocational training, safety at work, the fight against harassment and discrimination, and the preservation and development of pensions. The union negotiates collective agreements in collaboration with other unions and is represented by staff delegates in many companies in the financial sector (banks, insurance companies, trustees, financial services providers, management companies and professionals in the financial sector).

What are our primary objectives?

OGBL Finance Sector’s policy is to be active on several fronts , with the aim of defending

  • the rights of financial sector employees as far as their conditions of employment and remuneration ,
  • career,
  • working environment,
  • regular professional training,
  • job security,
  • respect for equality,
  • health and safety at work etc.

At company level:

The OGBL Financial Sector provides invaluable support to our employee delegates. We are dedicated to accompanying our delegates throughout their day-to-day trade union work, ensuring that they have the skills and resources they need to carry out their tasks and missions as delegates effectively.

Our staff delegates enjoy a number of benefits within the OGBL Financial Sector, including :

  • Ongoing support: We offer ongoing support to our delegates, helping them to solve problems and defend workers’ rights within their companies.
  • In-depth training: We offer an excellent and varied range of training courses, covering areas such as labour and social law. This enables our delegates to acquire the skills they need to best represent employees.
  • Regular information: Our delegates are kept constantly informed of news and publications concerning the financial sector, as well as developments at national and international level. This information helps them to keep abreast of the latest trends and regulations.

The OGBL Financial Sector is committed to ensuring that our employee representatives are well prepared, informed and supported in their vital role as employee representatives within companies in the financial sector. Our aim is to ensure that workers’ rights and interests are proactively and effectively protected.

As OGBL Finance Sector we can act within your company at any time to ensure that collective and individual rights are being respected and to oversee your working conditions.

At sectoral level

At sectoral level, the OGBL Financial Sector plays an active role in the negotiation of collective agreements governing the financial sector in Luxembourg.

The sectoral collective agreements we negotiate include in particular :

  • The Collective Agreement for Bank Employees
  • Collective Agreement for Insurance Employees
  • The Collective Agreement for Employees of the Caisse Médico-Chirurgicale
  • The Collective Agreement for Employees of Worldline Financial Services (Europe) SA.

These collective agreements define essential standards for employees in the financial sector, covering aspects such as wages, working hours, holidays, vocational training, safety at work and much more. They are the result of negotiations between workers’ and employers’ representatives, aimed at ensuring fair working conditions.

As a trade union, our commitment is to ensure that these collective agreements are beneficial to workers in the financial sector and that they are properly applied. We work actively to maintain and improve the rights and benefits of employees in this vital sector of the Luxembourg economy.

The world of work is changing. But the importance of reliable and effective union representation remains the same.

If Luxembourg has experienced a boom in the tertiary economic sector in recent decades, it is due mainly to finance and services which have been growing significantly for many years and are now undergoing profound changes, that , with digitalisation, will only continue to increase.

As the leading union in the country, represented in every sector of the Luxembourg economy, we have the necessary experience and expertise to address these challenges and to help shape the working world’s digital future by putting employee interests first.
