The Luxembourg financial sector is facing major problems that require structural reforms to improve working conditions and the attractiveness of the industry. A recent survey of 456 employees in Luxembourg’s financial sector revealed major problems plaguing the sector. The main concerns raised were the shortage of labour, the lack of appeal of the sector and the desire to leave. To improve working conditions and restore the attractiveness of the financial sector, a number of priorities have been identified. These include better pay, recognition at work, a better work-life balance, job security and shorter working hours. It is essential to undertake in-depth work to change the current paradigm and place greater emphasis on performance in employee appraisal.
